Abstract

This paper offers an overview of the increasingly common use of digital technologies in archaeology and heritage communication. Selected examples illustrate how such methods support documentation, reconstruction and public presentation of archaeological heritage. Additionally, the emerging field of archaeogaming is discussed as a way through which archaeological content enters popular culture and education. The paper does not aim to provide a comprehensive treatment of the topic, but rather seeks to demonstrate how digital approaches can enrich archaeological practice and heritage communication, while opening questions of authenticity, sustainability and social responsibility.
