The paper discusses the career of Constantine Chage, a prominent Byzantine military official from the 11th century, as attested in literary and sigillographic sources. It contributes to the debate over the dating of the events in which Chage was involved, and comments on the possible origin of his family name. Presenting two of the seals issued by the official, the author suggests a possible reading of the inscriptions.
