Management of Public Archives in Burkina Faso: Security and Perennial of Electronic Data

Abstract

The explosion of the digital in Burkina, like in the major part of the countries of the world, has induced a study on the regulation related to electronic archives and on the impact of the present management of the electronic documents, in about fifteen Burkinabe public institutions, on the security and perennial of the electronic archives. From reports and analyses we must recognize that despite the existence of a national legal framing, the present management of the electronic archives in the majority of the organizations producers of public data in Burkina does not find its foundations in the main texts governing electronic archiving. In the practice it is more question of empirical storing without formalized procedures, than an archiving in the full sense of the term. However, it is right to notice that a certain number of structures integrate the question of the management of the electronic documents as priority in the frame of the good governance.
